Help your students make a meaningful difference in our world today! Presented by Diana Williams SESSION 2 You can Explain Everything… and Your Students Can, Too! Explore the potential of visible thinking and learning with Explain Everything for the iPad. Screencasting is the act of recording an audio track while capturing the visuals on the screen of your iPad, and is a powerful way to demonstrate student understanding. Through several hands-on challenges, you will learn to import and annotate files to create your very own image and/or video projects for your classroom or school. Victoria will provide concrete elementary examples of how screencasting can be used to empower authentic student learning and self-assessment skills. Get your students creating with screencasting! Presented by Victoria Olson Discovery Education: Student Edition- Put the power of learning at their fingertips through Discovery Education Student Center. With unique logins, students can browse grade-specific content and access personalized assignments. In this session, we will demonstrate new ways to deliver resources to motivate students, engage higher order thinking, and achieve curriculum learning goals with the support of Discovery Education Classroom Manager and Assignment Manager. Presented by Lindsay Hopkins Making a Makerspace- Educational Makerspaces are getting a lot of attention these days, but getting starting with one can be intimidating. Come to this session to learn about one school's Makerspace journey, get some practical tips about getting started, and connect with other educators interested in educational Makerspaces. Presented by Margaret Westaway SESSION 3 Rethinking Digital Citizenship- Digital Citizenship has been a conversation in schools for several years. For the most part it’s been about avoiding trouble and staying safe online. This may not be really preparing our students to live and participate ethically and prosperously online. Let’s explore some shifts in thinking and ways to help our students and ourselves develop healthier, better perspectives and understandings. Presented by Dean Shareski Deep Dive: Discovery Education Science Techbook- Replacing traditional textbooks across the country, Discovery Education Techbooks are dynamic, core instructional resources. In this session, find out more about Discovery Education Science Techbook’s inquiry-based format built on the 5E model. Through hands-on labs, digital explorations, and an interactive glossary, as well as data analysis activities, students learn to read, write, and think like scientists. Presented by the Discovery Education Team Board Builder- In this session you’ll learn how to create and use Board Builder as a formative assessment tool in your classroom.
